Throughout the nation there is considerable confusion regarding search methods for Lost Pets. Pawtags is leading the effort to organize and provide our Members the most advanced search capabilities possible. This effort extends to work with various organizations like our Partners at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and NACA, the National Animal Control Association.
Our Primary objective is to expand development of our Nationwide Paws Alert® System throughout the industry and address the high rate (80%) of animals euthanized do to lack of proper identification and owner search information.
In searching for your lost pet, it’s important to understand that most cities, towns, villages and municipalities contract out animal recovery services to animal control facilities. In some cases, this may be the local Humane Society or other established Rescue group in your area. However, most of those organizations obtain their animals From the small percentage of “survivors” that make it through an Animal Control Facility.
Our current search process has all NACA facilities registered in the country. Most likely this is where your lost pet will end up. To increase the odds of locating your pet, it’s extremely important that you “visit” these facilities, make a search and leave your Paws Alert Poster with the staff. |
